Invitation: Jamhuri Day Celebration 2007 In Stockholm.
The Kenyan Embassy in Sweden has sent an invitation to all Kenyans to come and celebrate this year’s Jamhuri day. The invitation which was published at the Kenyan embassy website yesterday was in contrary to what Wakenya in Stockholm were waiting for. This time, Hon Purity invited all Kenyans. This is a very positive indication that Hon Purity has started tuning her radio to Wakenya- Stockholm FM. This is where all the gossips, propaganda and intelligence are positioned. Selective invitation chorus now is over and Wakenya are mostly welcomed to attend the function.
However, an organization calling itself “Stop deportation of Sick People” has been lobbying for Kenyans to boycott the function. Leaders of the organization told Jamii that they are ready and they are just waiting to know the venue and the time so that they can strategise on what they will do next. The group said last week that their protest marks their struggle against an attempted inhuman deportation of a sick Kenyan who was being deported by the Kenyan embassy last month under engineer Purity Muhindi. Some of the most powerful political groups in Stockholm region have not joined the protest yet.
Jamhuri day celebration in Stockholm is traditionally marked with food and free alcohol to the guests who most of them are foreign diplomats, as well as being used to illustrate Kenyans united might. If the group that wants to boycott the celebration will not talk to some of the powerful political parties in this region, then they will face an uphill task to execute their plan. Earlier last week, its leaders said the group would target the Jamhuri day to send a strong message to Hon Purity that they don’t tolerate nonsense.
The invitation: “THIS YEAR’S JAMHURI DAY CELEBRATIONS WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 12TH DECEMBER 2007 FROM 15:00 – 17:00 HOURS. VENUE: SCANDIC SERGEL PLAZA BRUNKEBERGSTORG 9 103 27 STOCKHOLM ALL KENYANS ARE CORDIALLY INVITED”.
